New Year, New Goals

Happy New Year, darlins!

I hope it will be a great one for all of us. 2015 was amazingly good to me in a lot of ways: my honey and I are now homeowners, I got in with Samhain and published more with Riptide, and we went to Japan, which was amazing. I've been very fortunate, I've worked hard, and I feel good. Yay for me ;)

This year I'm trying to do even more with my writing. I've got four novels scheduled to come out, I've got a new release on the 13th of this month (Dangerous Territory, which has a contest going on Goodreads--you want to win it? Enter here: Dangerous Territory giveaway ), I'm up for a few MM Romance Group Member's Choice Awards, which...

Okay, it's not a perfect group and I very rarely win at popularity contests, but Ten Simple Tips For Surviving The Apocalypse is listed in a few categories (Best Humorous, Best Love Is An Open Road Story, and Best Sci Fi/Futuristic/Post-Apocalyptic/Steampunk) and I'm actually very proud of that story, so placing in a category would be nice. Want to vote for me? *crosses fingers* It starts today! You can find the polls here (you have to be a member to vote, obviously): vote! Where There's Smoke and Reclamation are also listed in a few places, so feel free to go crazy ;)

Speaking of Ten Simple Tips, soon I'll have paperback copies of that for sale. Yeah, I know you can get the ebook for free but whatever, they're cool and I plan to give some away, so...that's coming! I've got to finish Redstone, I've got to finish my Samhain contemporary novel, I've got to finish a few other stories this month, and then...THEN! New stuff. Giveaways. Love and affection. I've it all, baby.

Anyway, welcome to 2016, and thanks for sticking with me. We're going to have a fun year together, darlins!

Upcoming Stuff and Getting Shit Done

Hi guys!

Okay, holiday weekend winding down, back to the grind tomorrow, and I've got a big writing schedule for December, so no time to rest on my laurels. December will also be the month of Family/Wedding/Drama/Did I Mention The Drama, so it's good I'm getting some stuff done before things get crazy.

What have I gotten done, exactly? Glad you asked! Some little stuff, like entering a flash fiction contest hosted by the Queer Sci Fi/Fantasy group on Facebook. Some bigger stuff, like finishing the rough draft for my contribution to next year's Out In Colorado boxed set. It's a time-warping, gender-bending version of Hades and Persephone set right here in Boulder. Yeah...I swear I'm not high.

I've also got a new release with SMP coming out on the 12th--also, my last release with them, since they're shutting their doors. If you liked Cambion, this story takes place in the same world. It's called Son of a Preacher Man, and features a new type of demon for the interested. Also, the cover is ridiculously hot. I'll have an excerpt for you closer to the release date.

Last thing: I'm up for a Goodreads M/M Romance Group member's choice award for Best White Collar story, for Making It Work. You know, this one:

If you want to vote for me, or hell with it, vote for whoeverm and you're a member, here's the link: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/20149-m-m-romance  Look on the far right, in little words, where it mentions Polls. That's the place to vote.

Think that's it for now. Here we go leaping into December...good luck and God speed!

Awards season, and whoa, there I am!

Let's get this one out of the way first :)  Cambion: Dark Around The Edges was nominated for the best gay paranormal romance, and it got 4th place overall in the category.  It was a huge freakin' category too, so I feel pretty good about that!

Or kind of...close enough!

The winners and runner-ups in all categories can all be found here: 2013 Rainbow Award Winners.  This is the place to look if you want a list of some excellent fiction to read over the holidays, guys.  Numerous other Colorado authors are featured, too: look for Carter Quinn, George Seaton and Marie Sexton in the gay contemporary fiction and romance categories.

On to the next big thing!  The Goodreads M/M Romance Group is having it's annual member's choice awards starting on the 10th.  I think they're sending out a newsletter to members with the categories listed so people can vote that way.  A few of my stories got some mentions, so I'm gonna throw them out here so, if anyone is interested, you'll know where to vote for my stuff.  I'm not a big player in this group, so I was pleasantly surprised to find some of my work nominated.

For Cambion: Dark Around the Edges: Favorite M/M Series (which, whoa, thanks to the awesome person who nominated me for that, holy crap) and Best Fantasy.

For You Get Full Credit For Being Alive: Best Action/Suspense/Adventure, Best Story That Should/Must Have A Sequel (it will, I promise, it's coming in the new year), Best Title (because who doesn't love Vonnegut!), Best Hurt/Comfort, Best Free Story (aww, thank you, I tried) and finally, Best Law Enforcement (profession-wise).

So, thanks for the love, darlins!  I'll get going with The Academy on Tuesday, so get ready to start all over again.

Goodreads M/M Romance Awards

Hi guys!

This is the first in a series of small posts that all have to do with things I was hoping would happen at the same time, but didn't.  Stupid Literotica waiting queue.  Anyway!

Voting is finally open for the Goodreads M/M Romance Group's member choice awards.  I don't think you have to be a member to vote, but I could be wrong.  My novel Changing Worlds is nominated in two categories: Best World Created and Best Sci-Fi/Futuristic/Post Apocalyptic, and a short story of mine called Having A Ball is in the anthology Animal Magentism, which is a nominee in the same category.  I would love your support!  Here's the link: http://bit.ly/VG75k6

Let's see...I'm running a very easy contest on Monday for my new release that comes out that same day, so remember to visit me then.  And more Paradise is coming, so look for that soon as well.  And...jeez, didn't I say this would be a small post?  Woman, rein yourself in!

Happy Saturday:)

And oh, PS-what did I go and see this morning?

And it was awesome!  Very visually exciting, funny in places, and with more detail than I'd expected, although since there are going to be 3 movies I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.  Anyway.  So good.  A lovely way to spend 3 hours of my life.  I can't say that about all the movies I go to see.

Awesome News!

Hi darlins!

This post is going to end up somewhere between general update and OMGYay!!!  Why the excitement, you wonder?  Well, mostly because Changing Worlds just won 2nd place in the gay sci fi/fantasy category of the 2012 Rainbow Awards.  OMG!  Yay!

Another Storm Moon Press title, Aliens, Smith and Jones by Blaine Arden, received and Honorable Mention in the same category.  I am so proud.  You can find all the winners of the various categories here: 2012 Rainbow Awards.

This is the first award my writing has ever won, and that makes it especially sweet.  Changing Worlds was my first full-fledged novel too, and I learned a lot about the writing process and how to make things better while I was working on it.  I hope that my future works will benefit from those lessons, and that my writing just gets better and more satisfying for my readers.  I would still write even if no one else read anything I ever put down on paper, but the fact that you do, and that you enjoy it, makes me so happy, you have no idea.  So thank you for your support, darlings.  If anyone hasn't read Changing Worlds and might like to give it a go, you can get it here: Changing Worlds at Storm Moon Press.

Other stuff.  Hmm...a lovely reader has nominated Changing Worlds for two categories in the upcoming Goodreads M/M Romance Group member choice awards, in the Sci Fi/Futuristic/Post-Apocalyptic genre and also for Best World Created.  The voting starts on December 10th, and I'd love your support.  Winning things isn't necessary, but it's kinda nice:)  You can find out more about the group and the awards here: Goodreads M/M Romance Group.

Jesus, aren't I done yet?  No, not quite:)  Two more things: first, the next part of Paradise is probably going to go up on Thursday, since I have to spend most of tomorrow running around getting errands done for my mom, who lives overseas and is relying on me to be her gofer.  Second, I have a new release coming out this month (freakin' finally, right?) titled The Solstice Gift.  I'm going to run some sort of contest here for a giveaway a little later, but if you want to preorder it you get a 10% discount.  It's got Winter Fae and changelings and dangerous hunts and Calydonian boar...yes, you can tell I'm an afficionado of the Greek myths, can't you?  I'll post an excerpt shortly.  You can get more info here:  The Solstice Gift.

Holy crap, last thing: I'm going to be updating my damn website soon.  F*cking HTML, I will conquer you!
